About Seiklejate VennaskondSeiklejate Vennaskond is a youth and civil society organization, which is focused on quality youth work, inclusion and development of young people and anti-discrimination education. We work mainly with young people aged 13-30, but also with youth workers, trainers and teachers and organizations active in the non-formal education field and lifelong learning. We offer young people and youth workers various options for development such as youth exchanges, seminars and training courses concerning equality, fight against racism & xenophobia, human rights, mobility and migration, environment protection, healthy lifestyle, no hate speech movement, refugees and other issues. In our activities we involve volunteers who gather every month to take up new ideas and think how to put them into practice. We sincerely believe that young people today can make a difference and we all work for this purpose. We organize activities both internationally and across Estonia, on local and national level.
Our objectives are as follows:
First activities of the organization date back to the year 2003 when a group of active young people got together to organize a youth exchange. Since 2010 Seiklejate Vennaskond has become from a non-formal youth group to a registered non-profit organization. Since then we started professionally working in youth field as NGO and set our main focus to anti-discrimination topics in 2012. Since 2014 we have led the No Hate Speech movement in Estonia (FB page here). Some examples of our activities are training courses: “I share, I care!” (2011) and “Stop Labeling Yourself!” (2012) (nominated for one of the best projects promoting intercultural learning by Estonian national agency in 2010-2012), PBA "Partnership Building Seminar in Estonia: think rural, feel global, act international!" (2012), PBA "Ten Steps from Idea To Application!" (2013) and study visit "Discover the Youth Work in South-Estonia!" (2014). We have also coordinated capacity building projects in cooperation with countries from Africa and Asia. On grassroot level we have supported young people in carryout of youth exchanges, specifically in regions of Valga and Põlva county (several over years 2014-2018). In December 2015 Seiklejate Vennaskond organized a PBA „Be Gentle – Explore Gender!“. In 2016 Seiklejate Vennaskond organized a TC „Stop Feeling Sorry, Start Acting!“ about no hate speech and human rights and seminar „Can I Come in?“ about refugees. In 2016-2018 Seiklejate Vennaskond lead a strategic partnership „Include! Involve! Improve!“ to include and involve more young people with fewer opportunities and raise the quality of youth projects in general. In 2017 Seiklejate Vennaskond organized PBA “Quality EVS 4 Inclusion” in cooperation with 21 organizations from programme and partner countries. Mobility of youth workers “ABC of Inclusion” helped youth workers across Europe to build new strategies to include youth with fewer opportunities. Since 2019 Seiklejate Vennaskond has been more focused on long-term strategic projects. Some examples of our recent long-term & currently ongoing cooperation projects where we were/are a partner are: Enable, Picture Your Story, Edu-Action 2.0, Natural Classroom, GAIN, MultiNations, Youth Steps Against Power Abuse & Making Movies Matter - Competence Based Approach to Applying Filmmaking in Youth Work. In 2020 longterm strategic partnership “Take Action - Together Against Discrimination!” started to find new ways to support anti-discrimination education (project lasts until end of 2022). In 2021 we organized TC “Quality, Support & Preparation - youth worker becomes group leader!”. Organization also cooperates with different national programmes (such as the Compatriots programme supported by the Ministry of Education) and ACF - currently we are carrying out the project “Speak up, act up – for human rights!”.
