„Ecofeminism - Work Towards an Equal And Green Youth”
ECOFEMINISM: work towards an equal and green youth aims to promote the social inclusion of girls and women through an alliance with sustainable practices and promoting climate justice.
Gender inequality tends, for the most part, to put up barriers to the participation and inclusion of women/girls. We live in a society that tends to be traditionalist and rooted in the principles of male superiority of choice, decision, and action. This is no different in the ecological sphere - "As several UN world conferences and reports by numerous NGOs point out, women are the first victims of environmental deterioration but also play a key role in the defense of nature." (Puleo, 2017).
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
In general, the aim is to advance the social inclusion of girls and women through a collaboration rooted in sustainable practices. More specifically, the objectives include fostering the development of thematic, methodological, and lifelong learning skills among youth workers (YWs) to empower them for innovative and inclusive action with young people. This initiative also seeks to bolster the capacity of youth workers and organizations in the youth sector, emphasizing their ability to work with young people facing fewer opportunities, with a particular focus on addressing gender inequality in an ecofeminist perspective. Additionally, the overarching goal is to promote multidisciplinary and methodological quality within the realm of youth work.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The project comprises several key activities, including 3 intercultural meetings (IM), capacity-building sessions (training for youth workers in an intercultural setting for interaction, sharing perspectives, debate, and reflection with young people), and 40 local sessions. These activities will be organized to engage young people in discussions around ecofeminism, gender equality, climate justice, and social inclusion. In addition, each participating organization will conduct a social diagnosis in its context.
METHODOLOGY
The chosen methodology involves a comprehensive approach, encompassing personal and group reflection, active knowledge construction, group dynamics, sharing of learning, knowledge, and experience, along with a reflective exploration of individual attitudes, behaviors and paths.
EXPECTED RESULTS AND IMPACTS
Anticipated outcomes and impacts include heightened awareness of critical issues such as ecofeminism, gender inequality, and social exclusion. A tangible result of the initiative will be the development of an ecofeminist toolkit specifically designed for feminist and environmental activism. This toolkit is envisioned as a valuable resource for young people, serving both as a practical guide and a means of dissemination within the community. In addition, the project will feature an online campaign strategically deployed on social media platforms, aiming to amplify its reach and impact. The campaign will be complemented by creating relevant documents associated with these activities, whether in physical or digital formats, further contributing to the project's objectives and dissemination efforts.
