The 3rd transnational meeting of the "Take Action - Together Against Discrimination" project was a productive and engaging event, held on the 18th and 19th of February in the beautiful city of Tallinn. The day started early as the entire team, along with representatives from Portugal, Spain, Lithuania, Croatia, Romania, and Estonia, gathered in a conference room to kick-off the proceedings.
The team began the day with a round of introductions, helping to break the ice and foster a sense of friendship among the participants. The session then moved on to a comprehensive review of the material covered in previous meetings, taking stock of the progress made so far, and identifying the tasks still remaining to be completed. Following a delicious lunch, the team dove into another activity focused on finalizing the writing of session plans. Members exchanged their ideas and thoughts, and together, they decided on the best ways to improve upon their plans. Overall, the first day was a great success, providing an opportunity for the team to come together and collaborate towards archiving their goals. The productive discussions and engaging activities ensured that everyone left the meeting feeling motivated and energized to continue their important work. The second day of the project began with the team working to complete their tasks and having a virtual meeting with online partners who could not be physically present due to circumstances. Partners showed their support on the earthquake that hit Türkiye. The morning session then proceeded with the team writing brief summaries about their particular assignments, signing necessary documents, and developing a dissemination plan. We also discussed the overall project outcomes and gathered good examples how project has developed new ideas on partner organizations everyday work. Day ended with introducing foreigners typical Estonian food in a modern twist as black bread burger and vastlakukkel with marzipan filling. Project ended with a festive vibe.

Eleri, youth leader and staff member from Seiklejate Vennaskond, participated in a job shadowing mobility in Croatia 17.01 - 03.02.2023. The mobility was hosted by LUMEN Ludbreška Udruga Mladih Entuzijasta and the sending organization was Seiklejate Vennaskond. Eleri also took part in the short staff training course where she learned new methods on how to approach anti-discrimination topics with youth and youth workers
The objective of that job shadowing was getting to know the reality of awareness of human rights and prejudices in rural areas. Estonian job shadow has mostly focused on cities or urban areas in her previous work, therefore it was a great learning experience. On the first days of the mobility to understand better how the local community was working Eleri was visiting Ludbreško Sunce, an association for children and youth with special needs, together with a European Solidarity Corps volunteer who LUMEN was hosting. Meanwhile also the plan for next activities was set. Eleri was mentored by Igor who was doing his job shadow mobility in Spain and also coordinated Saffet’s work during his stay. Her workshops included work with target groups from the local community in Ludbreg. LUMEN has a group of their active members who were really welcoming and helpful during the stay. With reflection after the activities feedback was received how to implement activities. Similar work was taking place with NGO FUNK which is located in Koprivnica with young members between 18-30. Organizations have youth centers and regular activities with young people. Facilitating several workshops with their staff members took place. Experience that Eleri takes with her back home was a workshop in Ludbreg High School. Eleri understood that the approach she has used in her previous work is not working exactly as it was in youth groups who have grown up in the city environment. In rural areas where the anti-discrimination filter is not working as the impact from home is more dominant there are needs to make changes during the workshop to have needed learning experience for the youth group. The experience was definately something different from all the rest she has done in her life and gave insights what are the wished goals to receive in the future and made her evaluate life outside of big cities even more. As soon as I got offered the possibility of going abroad on this programme I got excited. I had never done erasmus nor visited Romania. This was a truly great experience for me because it was like I was living back in London for my studies along with the diversity of countries I was surrounded by.
As I was doing job shadowing, I got given an opportunity of coming to Romania, and spend a couple of days in Bucharest. This allowed me to explore the city, the museums, the huge buildings, the food and of course the night life which is so present in the Old Town. After arriving at Cluj Napoca Airport the bonding activities started in a bus towards Vatra Dornei which made our arrival at the pensione Syade much better and easier. The whole focus of this program was on how to be an active civic person in a community. What roles everyone has, how and what each of us can do to support each other. We found out through communication and role plays, that our countries are very similar and we all share the same issues. However we also got to experience and understand a bit more of the 6 countries represented there not just in a political way but in more personal manner. The countries are celebrated by the event Cultural nights, which each country gets to show/present how great they really are. Everyone gets to try tradicional food and drinks as well as learning how balance it out through the tradicional dances. I found out quite a lot about myself in this short journey despite being an adult. It made me listen and trust myself, made me realise I care more about defending other peoples rights than I actually thought. Through the programme we are able to make great connections and friendships for life. Very grateful for that. Before returning home I had the chance to stay for another couple of nights in Bucharest. Allowing me to get to know Old Town like the palm of my hands. Overall this was one of the best adventures I've had in my life and I definitely recommend it. Guilherme From the warm and sunny late summer Italy I arrived in Tallinn on a chilly evening at the beginning of October. I had actually been craving the cold, although my minimal backpack that I had brought did not quite supply me with the necessary jumpers and warm trousers. In the following two and a half weeks I would go into many of the secondhand shops of Tallinn to supply me with a true Estonian wardrobe. I had come to Estonia for a jobshadowing, following a project I had been a part of in February, when the country was still covered in snow. I had fallen in love directly with the clear air and the space the country supplies, but this October strengthened my love for it. The first snow had not fallen yet and I could see the orange and brown colours belonging to early fall. I had plenty of time to explore the nature and different cities, seeing the culture and tasting the food, which was a big change from the Italian kitchen I had gotten used to. The jobshadowing mostly asked me to give workshops in schools, something I had never done before but came to love directly. The workshops handled different themes, from explanations on what living abroad had done for me (a lot, and all positives) to discussions on discrimination, privilege and mental health. The students ages ranged from 9 to 18, giving me many different opportunities to practice my communication and teaching skills. My time in Estonia made me realise how much I love teaching about things that I am passionate about. I travelled quite a bit through the country, following a training course close to Viljandi, staying in Türi for a few days but spending most of my time in Tallinn, a city that I explored a lot. I met some people who took me to museums and showed me different corners and views. I also organized an event on the LGBTQIA+ community, a cause very close to my heart. This opportunity brought up interesting conversations with young people and gave me new insights in the international variety affecting this topic. Overall I learned a lot: independence, bravery, consistency, confidence. I realised that there is a big difference between teaching people that choose to be taught, and people that have to be taught, and this is something I have found myself thinking back to often. It is something that fascinates me. I am very thankful for this opportunity, and the lessons I learned. I am Saffet Bayhan. I am from Türkiye, and I’m 32 years old. I represent Diyarbakır Çevre ve Kalkınma Derneği for the KA2 project named Taking Action: Together against discrimination which was accepted by the Estonian National agency. I went to Croatia on behalf of my organization for job shadowing. I would like to thank Lumen organization for the hospitality and all the arrangement. Together with our partner, we have realized 4 job shadowing sessions with people from different countries cultures and age range. Luckily we came across to some youth Exchange projects during our sessions and we reached young people and youth workers to get their ideas about our topic. During our sessions, we separated the participants into groups including 4/5 people. We asked them to think about their heroes and heroines. I mean people who has been a role model for hem and what makes them our heroes no matter what their gender is. As a second sessions we made some brainstorming activities which will make them think about gender equality and the outcomes were amazing. I would like to thank everyone who made us have this chance to reach around 70 people and change their ideas about such important topics. I hope that so many projects like this will be carried out in the near future and we will have a better world to live in. As participant of the project "Take Action - Together Against Discrimination” project jobshadower I had really good experience on Tenerife and Gran Canaria in Spanish organization Mojo de Cana. My jobshadowing experience lasted 16 days, from 4th to 19th October 2022. Together with Ada Ramos we planned and organized workshops on training course in Estonia in February 2022 which we implemented during my jobshadowing. On the first half of jobshadowing experience on Tenerife island we held three workshops for students of La Laguna highschool, and on the second part on Gran Canaria I had opportunity to work with children with special needs and young migrants where we held multiple workshops. Through these activities I had improved my competences and had the opportunity to try methods and sessions which we created on training courses. Also it was an amazing opportunity to see how it is done and how it works in Spain and on the Canary islands. Through this experience we also raised the capacity of our organisation and broadened our network. Some activities were also inspiration for our future projects which will be implemented in April and June 2023 in Croatia. We hope to continue good cooperation with all the partners in following years. Igor Dobec My name is Ada, l'm 25 years old, and I'm from Tenerife, canary island. At school, I studied sociocultural animation and social integration. I became aware of the existence of this project through Mojo de cana, after receiving the information my first trip was to Estonia where I did the trainig course and I was able to learn in a international enviroment how to work on non-discrimination. My second trip was to Italy, specifically to Perugia where I did the Job Shadow. For two weeks I was able to meet the group of young people who went to the youth center and implement what I had learned in Estonia, it was very active group, which made me feel very comfortable, for other hand we also visited other LGTBQ+ associations very interesting with different types of projects. During those davs I staved at farm where KORA, the Italian association, works with volunteers this also gave me the opportunity to meet many people from differents countrys, make me new friends and have different perspectives both in life and professionally, overall it was a great experience and that I saw a seed in me that little by little is bearing fruit. “Take Action - Together Against Discrimination” project continued with a midterm meeting in Tartu. Meeting aimed to see how we have fullfilled the project objectives and what needs to be done. We set action plans for remaining jobshadow mobilities. Also, getting to know more of our partners and build collaboration for new project ideas.
On the first day, we started the day by enjoying breakfast at the hotel with the others. Then we had informal socializing at the AHHAA Science Center in Tartu. The experience we had at the museum encouraged us to seek help from each other, and therefore breaking the ice. Furthermore, we had a vegan meal, which even the meat eaters enjoyed! Later on, we headed to the Tartu University Library where we dived into our first working session where we recapped and evaluated what has been done since the project began. Since December 2021, a training course has been carried out, 3 job shadowings have been completed, 1 is on going and 4 are yet to happen. We also got a look of an another successful example of jobshadowing project. After a fruitful session, an even tastier dinner was waiting for us in a traditional Estonian Tavern. As the night was still young, informal moments continued. On the second day, we started the journey by testing digital tools, like an online escape room format, to also use them in remaining jobshadow mobilities. To understand better people we are working with we reflected about organization target groups and possible local partners. We were sharing our organisation interests to collaborate in the future. We brainstormed new project ideas together as the next Erasmus+ deadline is behind a corner. Some new partnerships were made between the partners. Before lunch we also looked up our dissemination plan to remind all the tasks of each partner. The second half of the day was focusing on creating action plans and putting together timetable for jobshadowing period. The day ended with a festive dinner to celebrate the successful collaboration and strengthen the bond between project partners. Now there is time to implement the last four job shadow mobilities. Tiberiu, a 23-year-old from the northern part of Romania, recently had the opportunity to participate in a job shadowing program in Estonia as part of the Together Against Discrimination project. The project was organized by Seiklejate Vennaskond, a non-governmental organization focused on promoting social equality, and the sending organization was DGT Romania. During his time as a job shadow, Tiberiu had the opportunity to learn how to design and deliver workshops on discrimination. He was able to put this knowledge into practice when he visited three schools and one high school in Estonia. At these institutions, Tiberiu had the chance to share information about Romania and its culture with the students, as well as describe the situation of discrimination in his home country. One of the key aspects of Tiberiu's experience was his ability to conduct workshops with the students. The workshops were designed to raise awareness about discrimination, and included activities that encouraged participants to consider the effects of discrimination and the ways in which it can be addressed. Tiberiu was pleased with the level of engagement he observed from the students, and was glad to see that many of them were eager to learn more about the topic. Overall, Tiberiu's job shadowing experience in Estonia was a rewarding one. He was able to learn new skills, meet new people, and make a positive impact by raising awareness about discrimination. Through his efforts, he hopes to contribute to a more inclusive and tolerant world, and looks forward to continuing to do so in the future. |
