In July Seiklejate Vennaskond had hosted Tartu’s youth exchange APV (Advanced Planning Visit). Six people from Estonia, Poland and Spain met in Tartu, other teams from Croatia, Romania and Portugal joined us online. We met to discuss the August youth exchange curricula and how to make it interesting and exciting for everyone. It was quite a new experience for our young members, but we managed it very well.
We had only one full day of discussion. Participants from other countries arrived the day before and left the day after. Our youth worker Liisbeth met everybody and delivered them to the apartment. Next morning, we started our meeting.
At first, we had a little bit of ice-breaking and get to know each other activities. Soon after that we started to discuss our expectations & fears about the exchange, and assigning roles and responsibilities. We spoke about what activities we are going to make and how to improve it. Also, we spread tasks and topics about hate speech and human rights between all teams from different countries. As each country is preparing materials before the exchange, it helps participants to learn about the topics before so they can be more involved during the exchange. This meeting was very productive, as each team member was included in the discussion and offering their excellent ideas.
We also had a bit of time to explore the city of Tartu during Lunch and Dinner breaks. It was very nice sunny weather, so all the present guests had an opportunity to enjoy Tartu.
At the end of the day, we had a tasty dinner together at the Aparaat restaurant and after that we said goodbye to each other. Next morning our guests were on the way back home. Now we are waiting for the beginning of our exchange to meet each other again.
I had an amazing opportunity to take a part in Erasmus+ project called “Share, Create, Enjoy” in Istanbul which happened on 12-21.07.
Besides Estonian participants there were participants from Turkey, Romania, Lithuania, Denmark, Norway - 60 people in total! We were living in a small hotel in Silivri, which provided us food, accommodation and workshop place. Organization of entertainment activities and workshops was made by Süleyman Ayaz Karadag and Mehmet Altuntop. Due to their professionalism and fun personality project felt hundred times more interesting and useful. There were numerous activities where it was needed to use team work, your logic, your character and physical strength.
Through project I realized how much development in certain areas i got and that is why I would hundred percent go to another project with Seiklejate Vennaskond one more time. I highly recommend everyone to participate at least once in those kind of projects to understand how it feels to think outside the box while being surrounded by beautiful people from all around the world!
